Three generations of tailors. One small workshop in Mayfair.
Whitfield & Sons has been cutting bespoke menswear from the same address since 1962. Suits, dinner jackets, morning dress, overcoats and everything between — all made by hand in our workshop above the shop.
We don't do made-to-measure or factory production. Every garment is fully bespoke — your own paper pattern, four fittings minimum, finished by hand. The same way it was done in 1962, and the same way it should still be done.

Everything cut from your own pattern, fitted four times, finished by hand.
Two-Piece Suits
Bespoke business and town suits in worsteds, flannels and tweeds.
Three-Piece Suits
With matching or contrast waistcoats. Country tweeds a speciality.
Dinner Jackets
Black tie, white tie, smoking jackets — peak and shawl lapels.
Morning Dress
Wedding morning suits, including the Ascot uniform.
Overcoats
Crombies, polo coats, double-breasted Chesterfields, Inverness capes.
Visiting Tailor
We travel to clients in Edinburgh, Manchester, and New York twice a year.
Four fittings. One garment. Months in the making.
Pattern
Measurements taken, paper pattern cut from scratch — yours alone, kept on file forever.
Baste
First fitting in basted form. We adjust the cloth, you see the silhouette taking shape.
Forward
Second and third fittings refine the cut — sleeves, lapels, balance, drape.
“I've had suits made all over the world. Nothing comes close to what Whitfield does — and nothing lasts as long.”
